Debauchery.com Experiences Strange Google Penalty
Editor's note: Every Google penalty is a separate disaster. In this case, it's compounded by the subject matter of the site (is it a factor in the penalty?). We hope not. But we know that Google can penalize you if they don't like your business model. A recurring Google Penalty on Debauchery.com
Please note that Debauchery.com is an adult site with adult content, so if this type of website offends you please do not visit the site.
Since Oct 1, 2010 my website http://debauchery.com has been on a 60 day cycle with Google. The site will show up in the top 10 for thousands of competitive terms, stay there for about 4 to 5 days, then fall. Then 60 days later this will happen again. This has happened 10 times so far. I have gone thru the whole site thoroughly. Rewrote most of the text on all of the pages. Removed any low quality incoming links that I could get removed. At one point, I even removed ALL outgoing links off of the website to ensure that they had nothing to do with this. It rose and fell, like always.
At one point I suspected that this penalty could be for the links that Debauchery acquired back when it was a Review Site also knows as a Link List (from 2004 thru 2008). During that time, we provided a table with suggested links that webmasters could use to link to our site when submitting their site for review. This link shows how we approached the issue of submissions and reciprocal links back then: http://web.archive.org/web/20090109052927/http://debauchery.com/webmasters.htm. A lot of those old web pages on other folks sites are still up with the links still on them. These pages have no page rank or traffic, but there are a lot of them. To fix this problem, I deleted almost 50 of the old category pages off of my server and return a 404 code whenever anyone tries to access those old pages. I did this in April of 2012 and the site has since risen in the serps and fallen again.
Another group of links in Debauchery's Webmaster Tools that concern me are from areaporn.com and their email spam sites. Apparently areaporn.com has 928,535 pages linked to Debauchery in a table titled "Sites We Like." I have sent them numerous messages, using their contact form, asking them to remove those links and they have just ignored my requests. These folks also operate other sites which appear to be some sort of email spam such as: http://mail.exbattles.com/little-preteen-girls-sucking-cock-vids-2.html and http://mail.x-masgirls.com/christine-mendoza-naked-vids-2.html. Both of these sites have the same table from areaporn on them with a link to Debauchery.
Note: I checked areaporn and the other 2 links above today, 7/11/12 and it appears that the site is down. It still shows up in the backlinks of WM Tools.
